In 1997, John Liu was frustrated with the fact that while most computer professionals multitasked in their work, Windows did not have the proper user interface to support multitasking. There was no virtual screen manager to organize work in progress, nor was there a program launcher that allowed user to find the programs they need quickly. So, usually the desktop was filled with miscellaneous icons, while the taskbar was cluttered with opened programs. Then, John wrote multiDesk and xTerm ...

While most users were satisfied with multiDesk, it was a difficult task to get new users to try it out in the first place. There were simply too many sharewares out there, and people did not have the time to try out each single shareware available. The key was brand recognition. There needed to be a recognized brand that stood for creative quality software, that gave shareware authors a chance to have their works recognized. One year later, TechSuperior was found.

TechSuperior is different from traditional companies in the sense that it is not a big boss dictating the actions of its employees. Instead, each person is his or her own boss. Each group designs its own product and implement its own product, TechSuperior is merely a channel that allows collaborations between different individuals. Not all software engineers are great GUI designers, and vice versa. TechSuperior provides a place where different talents can work together for their own products.

Recognizing the capabilities of the Internet, TechSuperior put much of its effort in web integration. For example, TechSuperior put all its products and documentations online, so the users can have the most up-to-date products available. Furthermore, TechSuperior is currently developing applications to improve the mobility of people throught the Internet.
